Welcome to Punchy's webpage. Here is where we have collected memories of Punchy's adventures: pictures, etc.
Punchy is a plush moose doll. The doll used to be sold at Eaton's back in 1997. He was given as a "prize" to the AMS project team who's Christmas Party presentation (song, skit, etc.) needed the most improvement (i.e. the team that came in last in the competition). That honour went to the IPPS project who's song "When you're an ipps" (a customized rendition of "When You're a Jet" from the musical "The West Side Story") went over like a penguin on a sun.
Here are some pictures from the 1997 AMS Canada Christmas Party where Punchy was awarded to member of the IPPS team: Jith Paul, Mark and Tash Harley, Martin Auger-Rochon, Susan Lehmann and Lisa Harpur
How did he get the name "Punchy"? After the Christmas Party, he went to live with the members of the IPPS project team on client site. During the course of days work, frustrated team members would often take out their aggression by, uh, transferring momentum and force to the moose. Hence, Punchy was born. Note: he would also find himself in other odd and unique situation, like being stuck inside a cubicle wall panel that was clear on both sides. His various adventures seemed designed to either thrill or scare us. But he didn't seem to care... he was Punchy and he had a mind of his own.
Since then, Punchy has quietly made his way from project to project, serving as unofficial mascot of AMS Canada. From there, he moved to the ABE project where he spent some time boosting troop morale. He is currently residing with the Kentucky PD-MARS team in the Ottawa office.

Punchy has appeared in AMS Canada's newsletter "The Northern Lights" once in a while. He has write-ups in a few issues and he has been featured on the cover of a few issues and later became a staple figure. Below are some samples issues covers:
